Day of the Dead

At the end of October and beginning of November, the veil between the world  of the living and the dead grows thin.  During these days, tradition says we may tempt our loved ones who have passed into the world of the dead with water, tobacco smoke, marigolds, bread, copol, and their favorite foods and items to come visit us from beyond.

Every year  I make a mini-series of works to celebrate these traditions and my loved ones who have passed.

Indestructible

Inspired by renovating a dilapidated log cabin into a cozy and livable home, this collection juxtaposes the most durable construction materials - joint compound, epoxy, and lumber - with delicate treasures like lace, gold leaf, and semi precious stones to create works that are rough and ready to interact in any environment, but intricately detailed with decidedly feminine depths.
